An anomalous work that is difficult to classify but has a very strong spectacular impact with magnificent sets made by Giò Forma

Ponchielli's work is always awaited by music lovers as a special event. The libretto based on Victor Hugo by Tobia Gorrio, pseudonym of Arrigo Boito, depicts a dark and mysterious Venice, the theater of passionate and criminal excesses, perfectly reflected by the generous and captivating melodic vein of the composer. A historical fresco with a Scapigliata feel that requires six leading performers, one for each vocal register, surrounding by the impressive sets created by Giò Forma.
